This keralite man M J Joseph alias Appachan was a guest at Indian institute of management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) where DeshGujarat caught this video. He has invented a palm tree climbing instrument; a simple instrument with which one can climb toddy or coconut tree in half a time if we compare to traditional method. Instrument is available at the cost of 1500 Rs. And inventor has so far sold some 3000 instruments across the world. There is one scientist at Massachusetts institute of technology who does research about insects living on the tree. Earlier he had to set a ranch over the tree to research there, but now he has bought three instruments from Kerala based inventor and he uses it. Same is the story about some buyers from Iran, some curious prospective buyers from Hawai and Africa.
Ahmedabad based, IIMA professor Dr. Anil gupta who search, encourage and promote grass root innovations and innovators and for that cause runs organizations like national innovation foundation, Gian, Sristi says, he use to tell his American friends that they can go on to the moon but for going to the top of the tree they have to come to India.
