Nikki Mehndi is 30 so definitely a bit late comer in singing industry compare to idols and saregamapa brigades. Nikki is very famous Punjabi pop king Daler Mehndi’s wife and she has entered in to the industry with her first album ‘Nakhra Punjab Da’ recently. This album has some Punjabi and Hindi songs but surprisingly there is one Gujarati song too.

How come a Gujarati song in Punjabi singer’s album ? Well, Nikki Mehndi spent her whole childhood in Mumbai. She finished her education in Gujarati dominated Poddar college. And if you are in Mumbai you can not escape to love a taste of Gujarati Garba, Raas, Dandiya. Nikki has sung her Gujarati song in Punjabi style. Some Punjabi lines and words are mixed in this song. Few people know that Jagjit Singh got his first break with a Gujarati bhajan in the 1966 film Bahuroopi.Now he has come with his first full Gujarati ghazal album ‘Jeevan Maran Chhe ek’. There are 8 melodious tracks and the underlying theme is of love and peace in this album.The lyrics of the album are by the eminent Gujarati poet, Abbas Vasi “Mareez”.
