As per the last survey of trees across Gujarat, Anand and Mehsana districts are number one in per hector and per person presence of trees respectively. Survey was held by forest department of Gujarat across the state leaving only one district: Dang. Dang was not included in the survey because almost whole Dang district is itself a jungle area.
According to this survey, Anand is greenest district in Gujarat. Anand has total 1.90 crore trees. It has a presence of 64.62 trees per hector and 10.24 trees per person.
If Anand is No.1 in highest number of trees per hector, Mehsana district is No.1 in trees per person criteria with 11.64 trees per head. Mehsana has 49.6 trees per hector and in total 2.13 trees.

When I was growing up, we used to go to “vatan” in Mehsana district in summer vacation from baroda. And i hated to go to my village, because it was hot, low vegetation, less trees, dusty “Bhagol”. Recently I visited my village and it is different than my childhood one. It is greener. Dusty “Bhagol” is gone. Thanks to NaMo. He provided safety & security, so the “Dhor” are permanently stay in “Vada”. The major reason for dust was “Dhor” were going in & out of village for daily morning clean up for their “Ghaman” which was inside house. Plus Gujarat goven. is taking action for greenery.
I live in California for a long time. I love my Gujarat.

Anand, the Green Dist of Gujarat is partly attributed to the lack of business of Saw Mills. There are Not Many Saw Mills in Anand Dist. Whatever it had vanished from the horizon over the time thanks to the good luck of the people. If you look at the North of Kheda dist, near Kapadvanj -Sanand area there are many Saw Mills. The temp in this area is relatively higher than Anand Dist. Tha Plantation Drive years ago by Govt of Gujarat was successful in Anand Dist. Please visit Vallabh Vidyanagar - the town of trees thanks to the visionary leadership of Sardar Patel - Bhaikaka.
