Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will visit Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata in bid to promote Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit(VGGIS) 2009. Modi will flag off roadshows and take part in interactions with industry captains in these three cities.

VGGIS is organized at Ahmedabad’s Science City in January next year. Promotional activities for the proposed summit are to start from 17th of this month nationwide. Road Shows and Business Interactions are organized in 7 cities across the nation including Delhi on 17 October, Chennai on 21 October, Kolkata on 24 October, Bangalore on 7 November, Mumbai on 10 November and Hyderabad on 14 November. Modi himself however will participate the events only in three cities.

The Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) is partner organisation for the Vibrant Gujarat campaign. CII is inviting local industries to the interactions with Modi in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkota.

Meanwhile in his latest interview when Modi was asked about his expectations from VGGIS, he replied that he was focused not on investment but on job creation. He also said that focus of VGGIS 2009 would be on DMIC, Special Investment regions and infrastructure creation.

It should be noted that Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit had resounding successes in the past attracting several companies from Asia and Europe to establish their presence in Gujarat. The 2003 Global Investors’ Summit was held coinciding with the glorious Navratri Festival where a total of 76 MOUs worth USD 14 billion were signed. The 2005 Summit saw signing of 226 MOUs garnering an investment of USD 20 billion. The year 2007 Summit, attended by industry majors like Tata, Birla, Reliance, Shell, General Motors, ICICI to name a few resulted in signing of 675 MOUs worth USD 152 billion.

January, 2009 summit is 4th VGGIS summit.
