Gujarat University’s proposal for new FM radio station has been approved and 90.4 FM frequency has been allotted to it’s proposed FM radio station.

The proposed FM radio station’s signals will be effective in five Kms radius from University campus. According to sources, work for testings of signal will be completed within two months from now and radio will be operational soon after that.

Gujarat University has already developed Rs 6 million studio in it’s EMRC building for the proposed FM radio service.

The University had sought permission to start FM radio way back before two years. Permission was granted before after a year. However radio frequency has been allotted only recently.

Plan for Lectures through Satellite Communication in pipe-line

Gujarat University is also working on a plan for teaching through satellite communication in affiliation with Gujarat government’s Bhaskaracharya institute. According to the plan, Gujarat University would buy Rs 10 million OB van to telecast class room lectures live. Colleges would need to procure set top box and television set to receive live feed of such lectures. Students would be able to ask or interact live through phone during such two-way communication sessions.

In-Campus WI-FI internet service all set to roll

Meanwhile much awaited WI-FI internet service with more than 25 wireless towers across the University campus is ready to function. Testing phase is over and soon WI-FI service would be operational.
