Gujarat is the best:ICL shifts all cricket matches to Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 5 November, 2008
The Indian Cricket League(ICL) has decided to shift nine cricket matches including a semifinal and three finals to Ahmedabad abandoning less enthusiastic venues like Hyderabad, Gurgaon and Panchkula. As per the old schedule, Ahmedabad was supposed to host only one semi-final and one of the three finals.
In two years, Indian Cricket League got its first full house in Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel stadium on Oct 19 when Ahmedabad Rockets played with Lahore Badshah. Crowd support was fantastic in Ahmedabad contrary to pathetic response that was received in Hyderabad, Gurgaon and Panchkula stadiums where not a single match recorded more than 25 per cent attendance compared to the stadia capacity. Poorest response was in Panchkula while in Hyderabad floodlights went off in the matches and created embarrassing situation.
ICL Schedule in Ahmedabad
Nov 07: Lahore Badshahs vs Dhaka Warriors
Nov 08: Hyderabad Heroes vs Royal Bengal Tigers
Nov 09: Ahmedabad Rockets vs Chandigarh Lions
Nov 09: Chennai Superstars vs Lahore Badshahs
Nov 10: First semi-final
Nov 11: Second semi-final
Nov 13: First final
Nov 15: Second final
Nov 16: Third final (If required)
