Week-long cultural events to mark the Ahmedabad Heritage festival

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Heritage department has organized series of events to celebrate the Ahmedabad Heritage festival in the city from November 19th to 25th. According to the details given by India’s legendary Heritage activist and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Heritage cell coordinator Debashish Nayak who has initiated number of successful Heritage projects and movements all over the country, several important events during the Ahmedabad Heritage Week are following.
Daily Heritage walk will commence from Kalupur Swaminarayan temple at 7:45 am to explore the ancient wall city(contact:9327021686)
Daily Audio guided walk would be available at House of M.G. Heritage hotel located in Lal Darwaja area between 8:00 am to 7:00 pm(Contact:079-25506946)
Special viewing of Mr. Tejas Patel’s House museum and it’s collection would be allowed for the visitors(Contact no.98240 35965) during the Heritage festival week.
Art Book Centre in Madalpur area near Ellis bridge will celebrate Heritage Book Festival during the Heritage week.
The exhibition on Ahmedabad Heritage Cell’s activities will be held at Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s stall in Nirman-2008 event organized by Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers and Architects from November 20th to 24th at Gujarat University ground.
Ahmedabad’s Nagar community will perform it’s unique and traditional ‘Baitha Garba’ at Desai ni pol’s Hatkeshwar Temple in Khadia on Friday, November 20th at 7:30 pm.
On November 21st at 7:30 pm, Sufi festival will be held at Sarkhej Roza campus.
The Freedom walk will begin at 8:00 am from Khadia’s Panchkuva gate on November 22nd while Harshil Patel’s paintings of old Ahmedabad will be exhibited in Marvel Art Gallery(Shapath 1 and 2, opposite Rajpath Club on S.G.Highway) on the same day.
On November 23rd, Workshop on Kite making will be held at Kite museum in Sanskar kendra, Paldi organized by The Ahmedabad Kite Flyers Association.
Traditional Food Recipe Festival co-organized by Sristi innovations will take place at Havelis of walled city on the same day.
Uniquely organized Night walk ‘Discover Ahmedabad at night’ will begin at 10:00 pm starting from Mangaldas ni Haveli located in walled city’s Sankdi sheri. Before this walk a street theatre will be performed at Manek chowk at 9:00 pm.
On November 24th, a special walk will be held for deaf and dumb students at 8:00 am starting from Kalupur Swaminarayan temple. In the evening, Film ‘Gandhi My Father’ will be shown at Chetna haveli in Khadia’s Desai ni pol while film ‘Bhav ni Bhavai’ will be shown at Adalaj stepwell on the next day in the evening.
Photo exhibition by Ahmedabad Photography Club and workshop on Heritage communication( on Tuesday morning at aaround 10.00 am in National Institute of Design campus) are also organized on November 24th as part of week-long series of events.
