Ahmedabad’s Cancer hosp to be upgraded,new medi college by 2010

Gujarat cancer society will develop a new world class hospital with ultra modern facilities and a 200 seat self finance medical college in Ahmedabad’s New Swadeshi mill compound. The college which is expected to start from 2010 would have 150 under graduate seats and 50 post graduate seats. The college would be run by the cancer society. The college would have seats for cancer study.
Giving details about ambitious plans for Ahmedabad based Cancer hospital finalised at the 47th annual general meeting and executive board of the Gujarat Cancer Society, Gujarat Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas said that the existing cancer hospital would be developed and upgraded at the cost of Rs.722 crore. It would have additional 350 beds taking the total capacity to 1,000. New operation theatres and new rooms would be developed at the hospital.
New community oncology centre and cancer exhibition centre at Vasna would also be developed at the cost of Rs.20 crore with the help of public partnership. To provide early diagnostic facilities satellite diagnostic centres would be set up in the rural areas. Such centres would be developed at all the districts in the next two years. The project would cost Rs.10 crore.
