Gujarat government to allot Toyota Innova cars to the ministers
Gandhinagar, DeshGujarat, 27 February, 2009
Ministers and leader of opposition in Gujarat will soon get Toyota Innova cars. The government of Gujarat has already taken a delivery of 11 Totota Innova cars. The government has ordered total 26 cars. Delivery of 15 cars will possibly take place in couple of days according to the sources.
It is very much possible that new cars would be alloted to the ministers before the announcement of Loksabha elections.
Gujarat’s ministers were allotted the Ambassador cars till 90s. Then came Contessa cars. The government of Gujarat still possesses couple of Contessa cars. For a brief time, 118 NE cars were also allotted to the ministers. In Keshubhai Patel’s regime Cielo cars were purchased and alloted to the ministers. In Modi’s regime ministers and High Court judges got Chevrolet Optra.
Now the new fleet of Innova cars will replace Chevrolet Optras. Outgoing Chevrolets would be kept reserved for transportation of dignitaries and guests.
It should be noted that Narendra Modi’s some ministers including Health minister Jaynarayan Vyas had started using their personal Innova type larger vehicles instead of government allotted smaller Chevrolets in search of better comfort while traveling across the state. Their displeasure with government allotted vehicle will possibly end now.
