Gujarat govt pays Rs.83 cr for 2.5 lakh safe pregnancies

Gujarat government paid bills of over Rs. 40 crore amount to private doctors for safe pregnancy of 2.5 lakh women in the state in last two years.
Under the Chiranjeevi scheme, the Government of Gujarat achieved figure of 2,47,364 safe pregnancies. Rs. 43,28,19,522 were given to benefiting mothers under the scheme and Rs. 40,69,26,020 were given to doctors for delivering babies safely in their private clinic.
The Chiranjeevi scheme is meant for poor women, who can not afford costly deliveries in private nursing homes.
