A hardcore flesh eating wild animal – hyena, turned vegetarian while living with vegetarian farmer family in Kandhasar village near Gujarat’s Chotila town.
The hyena that has been named – Pintu, has become a family member of its guardian Zaverbhai, a local farmer.
“I spotted this hyena in my one of the cotton farms. It was a newborn animal then. It was alone and looking like a dog puppy. I offered milk to the little animal for three-four days. But what mattered then was not just a quota of milk, but lots of love that we offered. The hyena continued to stay with us and didn’t go anywhere else. We named it Pintu,” says Zaverbhai.
“Pintu consumes buffalo milk, sugar, Ghee and sheero – all vegetarian items. Though dog and hyena are traditionally hostile towards each other, this hyena lives peacefully and joyfully with our pet dog,” Zaverbhai added.
When Pintu grew up, Zaverbhai came to know that it is actually a hyena and not dog. Zaverbhai tried to relocate the hyena in forest area but he didn’t get success as everytime Pintu the hyena followed Zaverbhai to reach his farm.
According to Chotila range forest officer P.V.Jhala, hyena is 100% flesh eating animal and Zaverbhai’s Pintu is unusual case that demands study.
Forest department takes hyena ‘Pintu’ to zoo
As Hyena is schedule 3 animal, the Gujarat Forest Department on Thursday took the possession of hyena ‘Pintu’ from guardian Zaverbhai and brought it to the Sakkar Bagh Zoo. A personal love story between a farmer and a hyena has thus ended due to the wild life act. There were tears in Zaverbhai’s eyes when Pintu left his farm in Forest department vehicle.

This goes to prove, that A vegetarian diet helps any body to remain calm, forgiving, and fearless because of the genetic structures of plant food. A harmony with nature always brings peace.
Killing animals and drawing blood transfuses fear into those who eat them.
Most of the non-vegetarians attack without mercy because they get fearful bringing them to the worst anger.
There was a real story in Las Vegas where a Tiger was raised a pet since its birth, but it was fed non-vegetarian food and thus one day when it got angry it killed its owner without showing any mercy.
Pets raised as vegetarians have a rare chance for biting its owner. In a Hindu country like ours, except for the military, the general population should be made to pay a heavy heavy tax for meat since they are highly likely to cause law and order nuisance and bigger burden.
Non-vegetarians get driven so harshly by their anger that they are known to kill their own children.
To all those who take meat, or fish, killing or eating of killed food should know that you are only one step away from cannibalism. In this new age of access to rich vegetarian foods and tasty raw foods in our land of Bharat, any civilian going for non-vegetarian diet is asking for becoming a serial killer.
When I vote I always make sure that a party has most of its top-rung leaders as vegetarians, and who staunchly support a strict ban on cow-slaughter to keep the dreams of Mangal Pandey, Sardar, Lokmanya, Chandrasekhar Azad, Mahatma and Acharya’s wishes alive.
Just look at our vegetarian RAM or Jaitley, who coming from a middle class upbringing exhibit fearless spirit against the dictatorial mafiaship combine of the Congress and western-funded media. And amazingly, they do so without restoring to Congress’s style of false propaganda/provocation.
oh….wt a pity…..sad end of the story…
DONT GIVE ANY NONVEG FOOD TO HYENA.
Everyday, in the morning I observe a Jackle, eating PARLE-G..so, i think the animal gets adapted to whatever he gets for survival.
congratulation this is really great story
very nice stury jigneshbhai
Hi,
According to me the forest department should not take heyna from zaveribhai as he raised it from the birth and they have immenese love between them. i think if heyna which was staying with zaveribhai is a kind of demostic animal as he was staying with family memebers and was raised like a dog so it should not now kept in zoo otherwise it might feel uncomfortable and something wrong can happen.
Simpl;y leave heyna which the family memebers.
Zoo is equal to jail.
Why the Forest Department wants to keep it in a jail when it is happy and healthy being free in the farms of Zaverbhai?
Law is donkey, that is what being said worldwide, thanks to such practices. Our politicians make law and we know what they the politicians are.
Every law is not followed. Why the forest department wants to separate Zaverbhai from that hyena in the name of law?
The Sakkarbag authority will feed the hyena a non-veg stuff now.
This is good to worst.
Nice & real story.
You share with everyone especially Non vegetarians. It may be help to become vegetarians.
I feel sorry for Mr. Zaverbhai & for the Hyena. It is a faithful & innocent relation of different life’s. What is good in taking the Hyena to the Zoo ? Zoo is not less than a punishment place . It remain there like a slave for no reason. The harmless animal paid the cost for loving human being ! Is the rule & law can understand the chilling pain of the innocent Hyena ? Every life in the earth have the right to choose his or life . There is a law of nature & love ! Let the hyena choose his way of life! God bless the innocent Hyena !!
A very nice story! These are the kinds of stories that makes this site so special.
And, clearly, our law-makers have a long way to go in learning how to make good, effective laws. This is an example of an ansolutist law that fails to take into account that Zaverbhai is the one who kept the animal alive.
Zoo is a evil practice started by the Britishers and we are still continuing it? The forest department who forcefully took away Hyena to zoo are dumb.
, I prefer looking at animals in Girnar jungle sanctuaries rather then watch them suffer in confinement.
Jai shri Krishna!
Sh.Zaverbhai should be recognized by the Gujarat Govt., he is great! (for his adherence to the science of peace, as discovered by our rushi munis). Vegetarians by nature are fearless (if they keep their mind pure as seen in Zaverbhai), which is why our civilization has welcomed and assimilated people of various backgrounds and sects including a rich diversity of animal kingdom, all without fear. Even the invaders who recognized Maa Bharati as their mother were accommodated as our brothers with a fearless spirit.
This is indeed a true story of how one vegetarian family can turn the whole world into a peaceful bhaktiful place to live and thus making our journey towards salvation, redemption, liberation into a fun enjoyable experience, even if it is for a one soul.
If you look at the picture of the first Hindu family, namely Shankar Parvati they show Nandi with Ambemata’s lion, such unusual sight is possible only if they were to be a vegetarian family.
Our enemies are running propaganda to question the survivability of vegetarians, but little do they know that the strict vegetarian rhino is still surviving while the so-called dino is long extinct. Even now if you see anywhere on planet earth the species that are nearest to extinction are from the carnivorous non-vegetarian lifestyle.
In fact, the strongest biggest most powerful mammals (humans also come under mammal family) are vegetarians.
Non-vegetarians are destined to lose this opportunity life if these powerful (largely timid) vegetarians (who developed a pure mind) are provoked with violence.
@Inquilab
As idealistic as your views are, there are some animals which simply do not have the digestive systems to eat nothing but vegitarian foodstuffs. We as omnivores have a choice, if it were attempted to treat a Tiger like an herbivore it is more likely then not that it would die. It does not have any molars like people, and cannot chew it’s food first of all, and even if you could make it eat the food it would suffer from digestive, immune system, and growth problems since it’s body does not know how to process anything but raw meat.
That’s why this stripped hyena is such a scientific marvel and needs to be studied. It could show us things about the diet of stripped hyenas that we did not know before. Perhaps they are not the “100% carnivores” that we once thought them to be.
