The government of Gujarat will organize an international conference on Buddhism during 15 to 17th of January, 2010. The conference will be hosted by Vadodara’s M.S.University.
The state government has formed a core committee under leadership of Tourism and Cultural ministers to organize and coordinate the conference. The committee on Thursday convened a meeting in Vadodara where both the ministers also were present to review the progress of preparations.
“We are in process to contact consulates of 15 countries where Buddhism is practiced. So far we have contacted about 600 renown Buddhist scholars internationally. We have received 350 confirmations. Lord Swaraj Paul and Lord Bhikhu parekh are helping hands in this cause. At least five books will be published on relevant subject before the conference,” said Dr. Krishnan, who is working at Archaeological department of M.S. University.
It should be mentioned here that Gujarat possesses some of the very important archaeological sites related to Buddhism.
