SMS praying for the death of Modi: Two youths held in Surat

Surat Police on Sunday arrested two youths – Nirav Jagdishchandra Rana and Umesh Anupchandra Jain who are members of Vishva Hindu Sewa Samiti(VHSS) for sending offending SMS about Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Jain and Rana had allegedly prepared and circulated mobile SMS to as many as 500 people. The message read: “Jay Shree Ram. Narendra Modi ne swine flu positive. Bhagwan ene jaldi uthavi le aevi prarthna. Jaisi karni vaisi bharni.”
Shocked by receiving this message, several people reported the issue to police. Surat DCB found out that the message was originated from Rana and Jain’s cell phone numbers. Umesh lives in Chanchalnagar area and he had created the SMS. He sent this SMS to Nirav Rana who runs VHSS. Rana circulated the SMS further in larger proportion. Nirav Rana is son of local Congress-INTUC leader Mrs. Urmilaben Rana. Nirav Rana was suspended from Congress party’s students wing NSUI.
Surat Crime Branch DCP Subhash Trivedi and Assistant Police Commissioner N.B.Parmar are investigating the case under supervision of the city Police Commissioner Shivanand Jha.
