Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and his family will perform ‘matru shraddh’ at historical pilgrimage Siddhpur in the state on Wednesday.
“Deve Gowdaji with his family members will arrive in Ahmedabad tonight and on Wednesday early morning they will leave for Siddhpur,” Gujarat Government Spokesperson Health and Tourism Minister Jaynarayan Vyas told reporters.
According to Vyas, the Gowda family will perform ‘matru shraddh puja’ on Wednesday and then will visit the religious places in the town. “We have made all necessary arrangments in Siddhpur for the former prime minister’s personal visit,” said the Minister, who is also the MLA from Siddhpur.
Siddhpur is located on Saraswati river where all Hindus perform matru shraddh (the ritual ceremony for maternal spirits). Vyas said that the former prime minister is also likely to visit famous Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district.
