Gujarat village bans liquor socially through fine/reward rules

Thanks to efforts of PHC Umbri motivated by the Gayatri Parivar – Haridwar, a village – Bukoli – in north Gujarat’s Kankrej Taluka has unanimously decided to ban liquor socially. This was decided by the villagers in presence of district police chief Harikrushna Patel, district BJP Youth President, Taluka BJP President, District Bakshi Panch Morcha Chief and other local leaders. Villagers from surrounding villages – Arnivada, Mudetha, Umbri were also present on this occasion.
According to local leaders, Bukoli village spends yearly about Rs 41 lakh on liquor and Rs 18 lakh on treatment of liquor related diseases.
The village has decided to fine f Rs 10,000 to a person making liquor, Rs 5,000 fine to a person for selling or consuming liquor, and Rs 500 reward to a person providing information about liquor trade or consumption.
