Moderate to light unseasonal rain occurs in South Gujarat

Southern Gujarat areas including Valsad, Navsari and Surat experienced light to moderate rain on Tuesday morning due to deep depression over east central Arabian sea. Majority areas of Gujarat remained cloudy Tuesday.
The Indian Meteorological Department forecast says ‘Latest satellite and coastal observations indicate that a deep depression lies centered at 0830 Hrs IST of Today the 10th November, 2009 over east central Arabian Sea near Lat. 13.00 N and Long. 70.50 E, about 470 km west of Mangalore,470 Km Southwest of Goa and 700 km south-southwest of Mumbai The system is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm and move in a north- direction for some time and then north-northeastwards and cross south Gujarat and north Konkan coast between Mahuva and Dahanu by early hours of 12th November, 2009 . Under its influence ,rainfall at most places with scattered heavy to very heavy falls and isolated extremely heavy falls (>25 cm) is likely to commence over South Gujarat from tomorrow evening. . Squally wind speed reaching 55 to 65 Kmph and gusting to 75 kmph are likely to commence along off South Gujarat coast from tomorrow afternoon.’
The department has predicted possibility of light to moderate rain/thundershowers in North Gujarat, South Gujarat and Saurashtra until the morning of 11-11-2009.
