Gujarat to implement 50% women reservation in local bodies

The Gujarat government cleared the proposal to increase reservation of women seats in panchayats and urban local bodies from one third to 50 per cent on Wednesday in cabinet meeting. The government will come with a Bill to implement this in the next session of the Gujarat Assembly.
Earlier similar proposal was approved by the Union cabinet for increasing women reservation in the Panchayati Raj institutions.
