Thousands of auto rickshaws are on one-day strike in Ahmedabad today protesting against CNG price hike of Rs 2/kg implied by Adani Energy and HPCL.

The strike has been called by Ahmedabad Rickshaw Drivers Committee, an umbrella organization that includes Ahmedabad auto rickshaw drivers union, Gujarat state auto rickshaw federation, Karnavati auto rickshaw drivers union, Mahagujarat auto rickshaw drivers association, Ahmedabad rickshaw sangharsh samiti, Atul shakti CNG auto rickshaw drivers association and Gujarat state rickshaw drivers action committee.

Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service(AMTS) has put 35 extra buses on road to accommodate more passengers today in view of auto rickshaw strike.

Meanwhile, the unions on strike have demanded to roll back/rethink the price hike otherwise they will go on 72-hour rickshaw strike in Ahmedabad on 23rd of this month.
