Congress to support Gujarat golden jubilee functions

The Gujarat Congress has extended its support to the state government for the “Swarnim Gujarat” (golden jubilee) celebrations next year but said that the government should ensure that these functions do not become the programmes of merely one political party.
“The achievements of Gujarat over the last half century is the work of successive governments and more importantly, of the people of the state and must not peter down to showcasing the work of merely the present chief minister,” Congress legislature party leader Shaktisinh Gohil said.
The Modi government is planning to celebrate 50 years of formation of Gujarat on a grand scale in 2010 with a year-long series of events showcasing the developmental journey of the state.
State Congres chief Siddhartha Patel said the party would also chalk out its own programme to showcase its role in the development of the state.
Congress leaders, however, were critical of Modi for holding truncated assembly sessions – the last one being only for three days – and pushing through key bills which have great bearing on the lives of the people.
“Such a practice of disregarding the main opposition is not in the long-term interests of the state,” Patel added.

Congress has indeed played important role in development of Gujarat. Modi govt. has always showcased every good thing about gujarat to be their achievement, while the reality being slightly different. It was emberrasing to see poilitically rented people flowing flags of BJP at the BRTS inauguration in ahmedabad. It is complete politicizing of the matter. There have been such a grand occasion of Delhi Metro and many other major roads, etc. none of the parties or CM have ever taken it as their personal achiement cause they really dont deserve it. Modi should be no exception. It is their duty and I see no greatness in them if any CM for that matter does it.
1991 Narasimha Rao govt of congress party was responsible for the economic reforms of the country and particularly Manmohan Singh, being the finance minister. Indian market is now on the global platform because of those reforms. I have never seen either congress or Mr.Singh taking credit for it and making it an agenda for political gains. It was his duty as Finance Minister to lead country to a brighter ecenomic future and that is what he did…!!! They are the man of power and action, not Modi…!

It was cong CMs whose was lion role in resolving problems in Sardar Sarovar (Chimanbhai Patel, Dhirubhai Ambani)
20 years bjp rule made close textile mills in Ahmedbad, Surat & made thousands of mill workers jobless.

Mahatma was willing many things besides disband of cong but it is the nature (God) that makes the things happen. Nehru & other freedom fighters found it necessary to continue cong. Mahatma was not willing partition but it happend.
UP state is lucky state that they continue to lead the country by the generation of freedom fighters. Lal Bahadur Shastri & sons are in politics.
Guj is unlucky that they did not realised values of Gandhian ideology & cut short from politics Mahatma family after M.K. Gandhi.

In summary thereare more pluses to BJPs 20 yrs than congress 40 yrs (both have minuses as well). BJP pluses are: tanker free water distribtion, Elcetricity connectivity to al villages and Water conservation to prevent desertation of land- all these amenities are basic to bring life back to villages and puts them at the beginning og the path to M K Gandhi’s “Gram swarajya” – I challenge you to show me more pluses of congress’s 40 yrs whichreally made a diffreence in peoples life.
