Modi wants Narayan Murthy as government advisor
Mumbai, 26 December, 2009
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has invited Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy to advise Gujarat government to speed up electoral reforms initiated by him.
“I would like to invite Mr Narayana Murthy to come to Gujarat and guide the State Government as advisor,” Modi said while addressing the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) international conference here.
Modi appreciated Murthy for advocating larger public participation in the electoral process for speedy economic growth and shared his concern over low voter turnout in elections.
It is not yet known whether Murthy accepted Modi’s offer made from a public platform as the Infosys founder’s speech preceded that of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
Murthy, who founded Infosys in 1981 along with six other software professionals and served as the CEO of the company for 21 years till March 2002, could not be approached on the margins of the conference for comments.
