Petrol, diesel prices to be up Rs 2.85 & 2.70 in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, 26 February, 2010
Petrol and diesel prices in Gujarat would go up from midnight tonight by Rs 2.85 and Rs 2.70 per litre, respectively, making the motor fuel rates in the State amongst the highest in the country.
The latest hike in petrol and diesel rates comes after Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee raised customs and excise duties on the two in his budget proposals today.
“State levy on fuel is highest in Gujarat at 25 per cent on petrol and 24 per cent on diesel, including cess, after Maharashtra and a few other states. So fuel shall be more costlier here,” Gujarat Petrol Pump Dealers Association (GPPDA) President Kiran Patel told PTI.
Petrol and diesel rates in Gujarat are higher by around Rs 4 to 5 per litre as compared to Delhi, he added.
