Modi beats a media person, manhandles him.

But hey hey, we are not talking about Narendra Modi, and this story has nothing to do with Narendra Modi and Narendra Modi has not manhandled any media person(he handled media persons more smartly yesterday).

This Modi is Mr. Amrut Modi who beat a reporter and manhandled him with anger.

Shocking for everyone but not for those who already know our 24-hour TV media’s chasing camera culture and not for those who know Mr. Amrut Modi.

Now you ask ‘who is Amrut Modi?’

Well this old man is administrator of Ahmedabad’s only international tourist spot: the Gandhi Ashram. He lives just opposite the ashram and spends almost full day in his office inside the ashram. This Modi is bit short tempered. He handles day-to-day affairs of Ashram and also attends international guests including in past Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and almost all recent Presidents and Prime Ministers of India.

Now this Mr. Amrut Modi on Tuesday beat up a TV channel reporter inside the Ashram premises as he couldn’t control his anger. The TV channel reporter was chasing him with the camera asking him about some four desi liquor bags that were found inside the ashram. God knows for what reason, but Amrut Modi didn’t like the reporter, his questions and this liquor affair. In the course of repeated bombarding of unpleasant questions, Mr. Modi started beating up a TV channel reporter.

It is possible that somebody could have planted some liquor bags to tarnish the image of present administration of the Ashram. It is also possible that somebody just did this for fun and invited TV news channels. Whatever, but such a height of anger on Amrut Modi’s part was unexpected as he handles the affairs of the Gandhi Ashram, a place sacred for all who believe in tolerance and Ahimsa. We don’t know whether the reporter who was beaten, offered other side of his face to receive second slap according to Gandhiji’s preaching or not! The reporter was heard as saying ‘Kaka aa tame shu karo chho?(Uncle what are you doing?)
