India, today witnessed one of the cheapest kinds of minority appeasement politics. While after two years, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar returned Rs 5 crore unused Kosi flood relief aid of Gujarat, the question is that even if Nitish returns Rs 20 crore worth Kosi flood aid back to Gujarat, would he be be able to return the priceless service, the sentiments and the feelings that were involved in helping Bihar? We remember, that Chief Minister Modi had created an atmosphere in Gujarat during Kosi flood tragedy, that everybody wanted to help Bihar victims at that time, though Gujarat’s own Surendranagar district was badly hit by flood.
So Will minority politics be played in India now at this level? Politics will be played on humanity aids also? Following are some questions for Nitish Kumar like politicians, that we should ask.
Nitish, will you be able to return One-day salary to cops of Gujarat police?
1600 policemen including 86 officers contributed their one day salary amount voluntarily for Bihar flood relief.
Police Sub Inspector to District Superintendent of Police level cops contributed their one day salary while Constables and Assistant Sub Inspector level policemen contributed Rs. 50 each for Bihar flood relief.
Total amount of Rs. 1,50,000 was collected from this contribution exercise. 1500 Kutchi bed-sheets costing Rs. 50,000 were bought, while from another Rs. 1 lakh, towels and handkerchiefs etc. were to be bought by district collectorate using this amount. On 14th of September all relief material was dispatched to Ahmedabad via railway.
Nitish, will you be able to return donation of Moarai Bapu’s bhaktas?
Ram Kathakar Shri Morari Bapu had appealed to collect relief fund for Bihar flood victims in his then ongoing Ram katha at Naliya in Kutch. Amount of around 6.5 lakh was collected from venue of Ram katha itself after his appeal.
Morari Bapu, addressing the people gathered for Ram Katha had said “an empty bag would be passed to you, donate whatever you wish for Bihar flood victims. If there is a pain in your finger, your whole body would feel it. Likewise if there is a calamity in Bihar, we in Gujarat here should feel same pain and should give our response in a direction to heal it.”
Voicing his verdict over apprehensions on possible misuse of the assistance to Bihar he said “Some people have expressed their apprehensions that assistance to Bihar could be misused and could not reach to the real needy people but I think it would reach. Whoever would consume even a part of the assistance would be a needy person. Only a hungry person can consume food.”
On a humorous note he added an example to this”When your car stops at the cross roads in a city like Mumbai, beggars do come and stand outside. You immediately shut the glass window off in a response to this. Think, when we people go to the temples to beg something, how many times God might have to shut his glass window if there any!”
Nitish, will you be able to return Sarees to Ahmedabad Eunuchs?
Group of two dozen Eunuchs in Ahmedabad had collected 25,000 sarees, blankets, food items such as oil teens, Ghee, wheat, rice etc. for Bihar flood relief. A team of 11 members left for Bihar on Friday 5th September to contribute their assistance with two truckloads of goods.
Eunuchs are offered sarees from the people on occasions like child birth and weddings. Thus this group of eunuch already had big collection of sarees. Other things were collected from the people in 15 days hard worked campaign.
Eunuchs from Ahmedabad’s famous Sanju masi group were motivated to do something for Bihar flood affected people after they watched tragic scenes of the flood situation on TV.
Nitish, will you be able to return hard-work of Gujarat’s Fire brigade jawans?
Twelve rescue teams, each equipped with a motorized boat and life-jackets, were sent from Gujarat to Bihar to give a helping hand to victims of the flood tragedy.
Two Indian Air Force (IAF) planes flew the rescue team to Bihar. At least 61 trained personnel helped the flood victims in their hour of need in first phase.
The central home ministry made arrangements for airlifting rescue teams following Modi’s request.
As many as 125 life-jackets and ropes were dispatched to Bihar as the state was facing a shortage rescue materials.
Nitish, will you be able to return back the service that Gujarat’s medicos performed?
The Gujarat government, in association with the Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), had flagged off 15 emergency ambulances to manage epidemics in flood-hit Bihar. These ambulances. A special train was requisitioned for these ambulances to be sent to Bihar by the Western Railway. At least 85 people including 38 emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and doctors managed these 15 ambulances.
