A grand statue of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will grace Ahmedabad’s Saradar Patel international airport, said Shri Praful Patel, union Aviation minister today in his speech after opening new airport building here.

Before Praful Patel, another union minister Shri Dinsha Patel in his speech demanded a statue of Sardar patel at Sardar Patel airport.” There are photographs of Sardar Patel here, but that is not enough. There should be a grand statue of Sardar Patel here on the airport. If Prafulbhai is ready to take this idea, we can donate for making of this statue through Sardar Patel Memorial,” Dinsha Patel said in his speech.

Reacting to this Shri Praful Patel in his speech welcomed this idea and said, “Saradar Patel’s grand statue will be erected by the Airport Authority of India only. We can’t take money for Sardar Patel’s statue from anyone else. We would invite Chief Minister Narendra Modi and union minister Dinsha Patel to give their idea and inputs about how Sardar Patel’s statue should be designed. The work for making of the statue will be started from Sardar Patel’s next anniversary only.”

Chief Minister Narendra Modi supported Dinsha Patel and Praful Patel for their move and said this is a welcome step. He also added that there should be a kiosk with complete detail about Sardar Patel in various languages for public access at Ahmedabad airport. There should be similar kiosks at various airports providing detail of the person after which the airport is named.
