Sudhir Sinha likely to become next Gujarat Police Chief in December
Gandhinagar, 27 August, 2010

After extension of DGP Khandwawala’s term for three months, it is becoming clearer that Sudhir Sinha will be selected for the post of new Gujarat Police Chief in December or at the most in January, by the state government.

Current Gujarat Police Chief Shri S.S.Khandwawala was to retire on 31 August, but his term has been extended for three months, and therefore he will be retiring on 30 November now.

Then after, the government of Gujarat will have three options to appoint new Gujarat Police Chief, namely Shri Chittaranjan Singh, Kuldip Sharma, and Shri Sudhir Sinha.

While Kuldip Sharma is out of the race due to criminal case against him, the government will most probably go for Shri Sudhir Sinha, who has been Commissioner of Police in Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara in past.

In whichever city, Sinha worked, he received unmatched popularity and respect. Lastly in Rajkot, Sinha was known as a person who would show no sympathy to criminals. The people of Rajkot remembers Sinha as a man of people who was nightmare for criminals. Sinha had created fear among criminals of Rajkot. He was media friendly and thus transparent and answerable voluntarily. Any person could go and meet Sinha for unsolved complain. Sinha’s efficiency to control crime and grip over his team was very effective.

Sinha undoubtedly will be the best top cop of Gujarat. But for his appointment, people would have to wait for December.
