Boat ride in river Sabarmati will become reality on Wednesday morning, when Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation appointed contractor Amrapali will start ferry service between Subhash bridge and Gandhi bridge.
The ferry service will be operated from river front location near Darpana in Usmanpura area. A wooden platform has been set up.
The contractor is all set to launch the service on Wednesday, a day before Shraddh period begins. Shraddh period is not considered good to start any new task.
The boat ride service will initially begin with simpler power boats, but later on there are plans to initiate water scooter and water sports facility as well.
Not only this, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has planned to start a water transportation facility between Shahibag and Vasna area that fall on the bank of river Sabarmati. In the waters of Sabarmati river, there’s no cross road, signal or traffic, which will provide smoother and faster journey to commuters, compare to busy parallel Ashram road.
The grand Sabarmati river front project is taking time, but once completed, the river Sabarmati, once dry sandy ground, will prove another vibrant place of vibrant Gujarat.
