In a state-level Independence Day function Chief Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the National Flag at Kheda district’s Nadiad on August 15, 2011 at 9.am in SRP, Group 7 ground on Kapadvanj road. Live video webcast of this event will be available for online viewers worldwide on this link.
On Sunday at 7:30 pm onwards the Chief Minister witnessed ‘Khamirvantu Kheda’ a cultural event by local artistes at Dharmsinh Desai University Campus, Nadiad, live video streaming (webcasting) of which was presented.
‘Khamirvantu Kheda’ features a pride of place of Kheda district in India’s freedom struggle. India’s first non-violent ‘satyagraha’ led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel began on the call of Mahatma Gandhi in Kheda. The district produced Bhathiji Maharaj of Fagwel, who sacrificed his life for the protection of cow, Lok Sant Pujya Mota, Santaram Maharaj, Ravishankar Maharaj, Indulal Yagnik, Babalbhai Mehta and Goverdhan Tripathi.
