NRI Gujarati director’s American film releasing in India first(Video)

Ahmedabad, 1 September, 2011

It is not very often that one hears of an American film releasing in India prior to its release in the US. However, Gujarat born director Mitesh Kumar Patel of Applied Arts Productions & Mowgli Productions who is ready with his debut film which is a suspense thriller is showcasing it to his Indian audience before it releases in the USA.

The film called The Man in the maze revolves around the mystery existing about a man in the woods where four friends find themselves trapped in the maze. The film releases across al major cities in India in English, Hindi and Tamil.

Commenting about his decision to release the film in India first, says Mitesh Kumar Patel(present in Ahemdabad to promote his film), “It’s not important where I release it first, what matters is that every person watching it likes it. As a director and distributor, I have to ensure that my film releases at the right time in the right place through the right channel. The man in the maze has been screened at multiple film festivals across the US and Canada where the response has been overwhelming leading the film to bag a few awards. I feel September is the right time to have a release in India since USA can come after that. I would have loved to have it vice versa too but unfortunately this is a better proposition at the moment. It is being distributed in India by Applied Art Productions and Mowgli Productions headed by Ambar Sharma.”

To promote the film in Ahemdabad, Mitesh Kumar was present with leading lady of the film Liana Werner Gray(ex miss Australia Earth). Also Bollywood music composer duo Siddharth-Suhas who have done the background score of Mitesh’s film were present.

The Man in the Maze centers around four college students on a field trip to learn more about the American Indian Trail of Tears. While traipsing through the woods, however, they stumble upon an Indian burial mound that marks the burial site of a Native American family that died on the trail. The mound was cursed by a distraught family member, and whoever disturbs it unleashes trouble and winds up lost in a maze, terrorized by an unknown force.
