Kenyan wins Amdavad Marathon

A photograph of the Prize distribution to the winner of the Sabarmati Marathon-2011, Phelimon Rotich of Kenya, who won full marathon for men. The trophy and cheque of Rs.6.00 lacs was given away by Shri Parimal Nathwani, MP (Rajya Sabha) and Group President (Corporate Affairs) of Reliance Industries Ltd.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today morning flagged off the Amdavad Marathon 2011.
As expected, the Kenyan runner won first prize in this Marathon event. Two Kenyan runners were taken to hospital for treatment due to muscle problem they faced during the event.
Full, half and dream, all three kinds of running event were over by 11.00 in the morning.
About 10,000 people participated in Marathon events.
Open dance with DJ music, physiotherapy service centre were special attractions of the event.
Prizes to winners were distributed by minister Fakirbhai Vaghela in presence of Rajya Sabha MP Shri Parimal Nathwani and city Mayor Shri Asit Vora.
42 kms full marathon first prize winner is Kenyan Filoman Rotich who completed the marathon in 2.12.02 time while Abisa Mehrah stood at 2nd place with 2.12.03 second. In ladies full marathon, Gadisa Fitol won first prize and completed the route in 2.38.54 while Izita Terehadidah completed the route in 2.39.00 hours.
In full marathon Indian category, Uttar Pradesh’s Arvind Yadav is first prize winner. Yadav completed the route in 2.30.38 hours.
In ladies category, Priti Rao completed marathon run in 3.06.26 hours and won first prize.
In 21 km half marathon run, Gebaremendig Veldu(Itheopia) and Girmain Birham(Itheopia) stood first and second respectively while in ladies category Lemlem Behram and Jenevy Haftu Abeb stood first and second respectively.
