Gujarati proverb says, ‘Shiv Shiv Karti Thandi Jaay.’
This means winter departs with Maha Shivaratri, the birthday of bhagvan Shiv.
Today’s atmosphere in Amdavad is almost in accordance with the proverb.
The nights in last few days were cool, but not cold. The atmosphere in day-time is pleasant.
And today morning Gujarati newspapers are carrying an advertisement of air conditioning system, a perfect handshake to approaching days.
Present blending season is mixture of departing winter and approaching summer, and that’s the best time to travel through Gujarat. Next blending season will arrive around Navratri.
Rural Gujarat hosts several major fairs during this time. It is because the blending season is perfect time, convenient and suitable for large gatherings in open.
So today it’s Maha Shivaratri, tomorrow Amaas, and then the month of Fagun will begin from Wednesday.
In next few days, actual summer will arrive; a time to enjoy Kesar mango, a time to switch on AC, a time for exams, a time for vacation, a time for Pepsi and Coca Cola TV ads, a time of evening walks, a time for ice cream, a time for Mount Abu trip, a time for barmuda and half pent, a time to taste neem juice on Gudi padvo, a time for Holi and Dhuleti, Ramnavmi, Chetichand, Hanuman jayanti and Akha trij, a time to enjoy the beauty of Kesudo, Shimlo and Garmalo.
Politically, the govt in state and the centre will be busy in month long budget sessions. The UPA-2 will complete three years of its rule in April. Election for four Rajya Sabha seats of Gujarat will be held in April. Nanavati commission report on Gujarat riots 2002 will come out in March. SIT report opening could take place in this period. Lokayukta verdict could be delivered in March itself.
Wishing you happy days ahead.
