Junagadh Nawab’s Royal treasure to be showcased for public

A royal treasure of Junagadh’s former Nawab will be showcased for public soon on permanent basis. This was announced by Gujarat minister Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela in Gujarat assembly today.
Replying to a question, the minister said that in 1947, then Nawab of Junagadh fled away to Pakistan. Since then Nawab’s royal treasure is in custody of district Collector of Junagadh.
He said there are 219 pieces of gold, 2426 pieces of silver and other precious objects in custody.
He said some of the pieces of royal treasure were exhibited for public on two different occasion in recent past. 35 objects were exhibited at The Grand Bhagawati Hotel during 2003 Navratri utsav, while in 2006, for three days, the treasure was exhibited for public in Junagadh itself.
Shri Vaghela added that presently 34 bullet proof showcases are being made at a cost of about Rs 75 lakh to showcase the treasure.
