Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) business mission visits Gujarat

The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) led by its President, Mr TEO Siong Seng, is on a two-day visit to Gujarat.

Mr TEO Siong Seng is Managing Director of Pacific International Lines (PIL) Pte Ltd, which is Singapore’s second largest shipping line and is ranked among the top 20 global container carriers. Mr Teo is also a Member of Singapore’s Parliament, the sole representative for business and industry. This is the first delegation by the SCCCI of such a large size and at such a senior level to India in over 5 years.

The delegation includes 38 other members, including 10 other Council members of the SCCCI, from fields as diverse as shipping, supply chain management and logistics, freight forwarding and warehousing, real estate, engineering and electronics, IT, financial services, chemicals, marine and off-shore engineering, water management, shipping, port development, machinery, urban solutions and education.

The objectives of the delegation visit are to meet top policy makers, key government agencies and business leaders to understand Gujarat’s investment climate and policies. In particular the visit gives them a firsthand experience of the industrial and infrastructure development in Gujarat as well as to find out new business and investment opportunities in the state.

The delegation today visited the Tata Nano Plant, Sanand following the meetings with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Secretary of Gujarat, Mr. AK Joti.

The topics discussed during the meeting included educational cooperation, the growth in auto components sector, opportunities in shipping and further the lessons Gujarat can learn from Singapore on the BRTS project is rolled out further.
