Dawoodi Bohra community’s spiritual leader Doctor Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin saheb arrived at Surat to celebrate his 101th birth anniversary at his birth place.

City Mayor and district Collector were among those present to welcome Syedna saheb who arrived here from Mumbai in a special helicopter that landed at cotton mill compound in Shetaranjiwad area at around 2.30 pm.

Sydena saheb reached Zampabazar based ‘Sakina manzil’ where after brief rest he met some followers.

There was heavy rush of Bohra community members to have a glimpse of their spiritual leader.

It should be mentioned here that earlier Syedna saheb’s 100th birth anniversary was scheduled to be celebrated in Surat, however his weak health didn’t allow him to visit Surat. Lastly Sydena saheb visited this city two years back in year 2010 during Arabic university exam.

For Bohra community in Surat, the occasion gives double bonanza. Along with Dr Syedna, his successor and second son who is going to be the 53rd guru of Bohra community will also remain present to give blessings to community members.

A cake cutting ceremony, bicycle rally etc programmes were organized on this occasion.
