Gujarat government has rubbished Union Minister Anand Sharma’s denial about tax on cotton exports and subsidy on meat export.

Spokesperson of Gujarat government Shri Jaynarayan Vays in a statement issued here said, “the Chief Minister’s charge that central government taxes cotton exports and subsidizes mutton exports is 100% true. The Commerce minister’s lies stands exposed. The centre had levied export duty of Rs 2,500 on cotton export on April 9, 2010 and completely banned cotton export ten days later. The centre was paying 30% subsidy on exports of meat-mutton. Subsidy was also paid in the form of transport assistance under aegis of Agricultural and processed food products export development authority (APEDA) on meat exports till March 31, 2012.”
