New tourist facilities planned at Gir, pieces of lands selected

It is learnt through the sources that Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited (GTCL) is planning to develop three different facilities for tourists at Sasan Gir, the last abode of Asiatic lions.
Sources told DeshGujarat that GTCL has planned to set up a three-start resort on Visavdar road at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore for Gir tourists. Also three tourist-stay facilities with 20 bhungas(traditional huts with all modern amenities) at each place are planned at Sasan road, Moti Monpari village and Surajgadh.
According to sources, a meeting between Manager(acquisition) GTCL, Shri KM Gurjar and Mamlatdar of Visavadar taluka Shri Vispara was held recently, after which a team of officials visited various suitable locations to scout proper land to set up tourist facilities.
At the end of the primary selection process, a piece of land behind Ashram shala in Surajgadh village of Mendarda taluka has been selected. Also selected are couple of pieces of land; survey no.288 and 290 in Moti Monpari village of Visavdar taluka and waste land on Sasan road.
In Dhari forest area, a location between Zar and Dangavadar villages has been finalized, but Forest department’s No objection Certificate is awaited in this regard according to sources. TCGL is also exploring possibilities to develop a resort near Jalandhar water fall in Maliya hatina taluka.
