CM addresses 2.21-lakh primary school teachers through Edusat

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today exhorted 2.21-lakh primary school teachers at 4,268 CRCs in the state to take time out for learning to face the students better equipped.
Talking to the teachers from Bisag at Gandhinagar through satellite Edusat while inaugurating a ten-day teachers training course for new courses in Standard V to VIII, he said that teachers should conduct themselves only then could they command respect and contribute to build future generation for their brighter future.
Mr. Modi said there needs to be strong bond between the teachers and the taught in a relationship similar to devotee and disciple. A teacher needs to take all students along, cannot afford to neglect and leave behind weak students. They should keep contact with guardians, too. Students should be encouraged to improve their skills in every subject.
He also called for making a success of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan as part of Gunotsav. There is need to maintain cleanliness in school premises. The government is paying extra attention to improve physical infrastructure. There should be a healthy competition between government and private schools.
During question-answer session with the teachers, Mr. Modi said that it is the age of technology and teachers would have to be techno savvy. The new generation is more intelligent and they pick up teachers qualities fast.
Those present during the satellite talk included Minister of State for Education Jaysinh Chauhan, Primary Education Secretary R.P. Gupta, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Project Director Manoj Agrawal and others.
