Gujarat Congress’s Kshatriya sammelan held in north Gujarat’s Patan was successful figure wise. The sammelan, apart from other castes also included Thakors, who with their numbers influence results of several assembly constituencies in rural north Gujarat.
Though the sammelan was named ‘Kshatriya Asmita Sammelan’, it was clearly a Congress show, with local MP Jagdish Thakor, former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela, central minister Bharatsinh Solanki on stage.
Congress, through this convention tried to showcase its Kshatriya leadership and conveyed the community that if Congress is elected to power, this set of leaders will take care.
Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela asked Kshatriyas not to vote for a Kshatriya candidates of BJP.
“When there’s Kshatriya candidate from BJP contesting assembly poll, you should stay away from voting in his favor. If situation arises, vote for a Rabari candidate of Congress, but not Kshatriya candidate of BJP,” Shankersinh said in his speech.
The event was made attractive with laser show depicting the history of Kshatriyas and their bravery. Aatashbaji event was held at the end of the sammelan.
