Ahmedabad, 5 July 2012
Two helicopters of Indian Air Force(IAF) had to do emergency landing in an open green plot of remote village of Navsari district in south Gujarat today morning due to visibility problem amid heavy rain.
District Collector of Navsari told DeshGujarat over a phone call that both helicopters took off from Vadodara and were on way to Nashik and there were six IAF jawans on board who were safe.
The plot where two helicopters suddenly made emergency landing belongs to Surakhia village of Navsari district and it is used for wedding purpose by villagers.
Police had to deploy extra force to keep hundreds of curious villagers away from two helicopters.
Navsari district is witnessing heavy rain for last 48 hours. DeshGujarat has learnt that both helicopters will now take off again only tomorrow, if the atmosphere is friendly enough to allow that.
