One-day water supply cut per week in Jamnagar(Video)
Jamnagar, 18 July 2012
The Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has announced one-day water cut per week.
“We have tried to see that residents have to face minimum inconvenience, and therefore the decision has taken lately now,” said Standing Committee Chairman Meraman Bhatu. Jamnagar draws water from Ranjitsagar, Und and Sasoi dams, along with Narmada water. While local reservoirs are fast drying up, the supply of Narmada water is proving to be inadequate.

This is hard reality of Saurashtra.
It made news because it is Jamnagar, the Reliance powerhouse.
In Bhavnagar, we have never enjoyed >4 days of water / week since last 10 years. In case of summer it is even scarcer.
Even when water comes, it is so inadequate pressure that people have to put pumps to fetch it forcefully, snatching it from their next neighbour.
Tanker suppliers are hand in glove with Municipal corporation – so this is inevitable vicious circle.
Long live Gujarat Growth Engine.
