Gujarat polls may be held in November end, says a report

According to a report by Bharati Jain in today’s Economic Times, instead of December the Gujarat Assembly elections this year may be held in the second half of November itself, possibly anytime after Diwali(Diwali on 13 November, Labh Pancham on 18 November this year)
The report which is based on the details received from the sources in Nirvachan Ayog further said, “EC will most likely announce polls in early October. While working out the exact poll dates, it will take into account festivals such as Navratri in Gujarat.”
It should be mentioned that article 324 of the Constitution empowers the EC to hold polls to the assembly or the Lok Sabha up to six months before expiry of its term. The tenure of the Gujarat assembly expires only in January.
