Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil who resigned from his post after defeat on Bhavnagar Rural seat in recently concluded Gujarat assembly elections today sent a thanksgiving letter to media. In reference to his rival candidate Parushottam Solanki’s victory over him, Shaktisinh in his letter said, “I was disappointed that people chose person with over half a dozen serious criminal charges including TADA over me and my affidavit definitely appears completely drab and dry over his (http://docs.myneta.info/affidavits/ews3gujarat2012/476/Solanki_Parshottmbhai_Odhavjibhai103022.PDF ) !!!”

Here is the full text of Gohil’s letter to media:

Dear friends,

Last five years, we have been in regular touch.

I appreciate your constructive criticism, insights and perspective.

I thank you for your continuous support. I have always put people before politics and have tried in my most humble manner to serve the State and the Society.

My defeat, which I have accepted very graciously, has also made me reaffirm my faith and resolution to always put people before politics. I have lost but I continue to stand by my principles. I have very consciously not succumbed to certain things or compromised on my principles for populism.yes I was disappointed that people chose person with over half a dozen serious criminal charges including TADA over me and my affidavit definitely appears completely drab and dry over his (http://docs.myneta.info/affidavits/ews3gujarat2012/476/Solanki_Parshottmbhai_Odhavjibhai103022.PDF ) !!! but then this is democracy.

A flourishing, morally credible media is a vital component in the maintenance of genuinely public talk, argument about common good.

You as a media person played an important role in attempting to bring out the truth and also stand by the truth. Despite attempts to manufacture propaganda through media, your steadfast commitment to truth and integrity is laudable.
