And first international delegation in CM’s new office building

A delegation from Argentina’s Mendoza Province, led by State Governor Dr. Francisco Perez, called on Chief Minister Narendra Modi and signed four Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) for mutual collaboration in four sectors.

They are with (1) iNDEXTb for investment and promotion of socio-economic-cultural activities, (2) Gujarat Government’s Industries Department for industrial investment and business promotion with small and medium manufacturing units, (3) Gujarat Government’s Water Resources Department for irrigation, water management for optimum utilization and climate change, and (4) with M.S. University at Vadodara for teachers’ and students’ exchange between Mendoza State and improvement of quality of education.

The Argentine delegation happens to be the first one to meet Mr. Modi in the newly opened Ministers’ Block, Swarnim Sankul-1 at the Sardar Patel Secretariat complex.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi talked about similarities between Gujarat and Argentina is agriculture and animal husbandry, mining and manufacturing sector, tourism, forestry, oil exploration, irrigation management, food and agro processing. Gujarat has a unique Narmada-based river-grid as well as gas grid.

The Chief Minister invited delegation from Argentina at Gujarat’s forthcoming Agro-Tech Festival in 2014 and Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit in 2015. He also extended a warm welcome to Argentina to partner Gujarat’s petroleum and gas, energy, potash-fertilizer, tourism, i-Create Incubation & Research Centre.

Dr Francisco hailed Gujarat’s achievements in irrigation, water management, Narmada river-grid and listed water management through hydraulic technology as Argentina’s strength. He extended welcome to Gujarat in the field of climate change, petroleum energy, healthcare, exchanging research in educational technology to begin a new chapter in the mutual relation between the two provinces. He said the greater cooperation between Mendoza and Gujarat should contribute to build better relation between Argentina and India.

Gujarat Government’s Chief Secretary Varesh Sinha and other senior Secretaries were present during the meeting.
