Narendra Modi dedicates Asia’s largest cattle feed plant in north Gujarat

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated Asia’s largest cattle feed plant at Katarva near Deesa in Banaskantha district of north Gujarat.

Rs 140 crore newly built plant has capacity to produce 1,000 tonne cattle feed every day.

The Chief Minister in his speech pointed out that Banas dairy has become the largest dairy of milk-cooperative sector in Gujarat. Banas dairy was producing 3.5 lakh litre milk in year 2001, today the figure is 35 lakh litre.

Modi said the state government has organized more than 30,000 cattle health fairs so far. He said Gujarat has witnessed 68% rise in milk production.

Modi said while Gujarat has taken an initiative of setting up a bulk milk chilling plant to preserve milk in good condition, on the other hand in central government godowns, crores and crores tonnes of food grain is rotting. When Supreme Court asked government to distribute food grain to poor people of this country, the government sold it to liquor manufacturers.

Modi made an announcement that Krushi Mahotsav of this year will kick off a day after Akha treej. He said the government of Gujarat will organize International Agritech Festival once every two years starting from year 2014.
