Delhi police have arrested three IPL cricket players involved in match fixing.
Three IPL cricketers including Indian team’s fast bowler S Sreesanth and two players of his Rajasthan Royals team were today arrested on charges of spot-fixing.
But three players are not the only people arrested in this case. One bookie Amit Kumar from Ahmedabad is also arrested.
Delhi police in its press conference today afternoon announced the name of Amit Kumar as one of the persons arrested in this case.
Amit Kumar was arrested after Wednesday match in Mumbai from third floor room of hotel Inter continental in Mumbai.
Another bookie arrested was Manan Bhatt, and according to sources he is also from Ahmedabad.
According to Delhi police, the Wednesday match in Mumbai between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals had some spot fixing involved.
Player Ankit Chavan of Rajasthan Royals team agreed to give 14 run in one over for Rs 60 lakh. The deal between bookies and Ankit was fixed by another Rajasthan Royals player Ajit Chadila. Delhi police in its press conference showed video footage that in one over, Ankit gave just two runs, but in another over which was fixed Ankit had to give 14 runs as per the deal, and he did the job.
After the match, Chandila talked to bookie and said that as the deal with Ankit was fixed through him, Ankit should get money through him and no direct payment should be made.
Police arrested Ankit from Trident hotel, Shreesanth who was involved in spot fixing in another match from Carter road, while Chandila and bookie Amit kumar were arrested from Inter continental hotel.
This case’s Ahmedabad connection is serious in nature, because police has repeatedly confirmed that this case is connected to underworld and foreign country.
