Gujarati youths mostly fail to get through the chest measurement test during army recruitment fairs, said Colonel Sinha who was here supervising the recruitment fair of southern zone of Indian Army. Colonel Sinha said that the youths in Gujarat mostly fail to get through the physical test.
It should be mentioned here that as per the Army recruitment rules, on expansion, the candidate’s chest measurement should not be less than 77 cm with minimum range of expansion of 5 cm. Army’s 100 marks physical fitness test consists one mile run, pull ups, balance and 9 feet ditch.
The first day of this recruitment fair at Bharuch attracted 2800 youths from Anand, Valsad, Dang, Surat, Tapi districts, Dadaranagar Haveli and Daman. On second day, 2200 youths from Mehsana and Patan district joined the fair. In first three days more than 10,000 youths joined the recruitment fair. According to Dinesh Dave, an officer of Army recruitment publicity, the 10-day long recruitment fair is expected to attract more than 20,000 youths from all parts of Gujarat.
