Ahmedabad, 19 May 2013

All 11,000 people of Ahmedabad district’s remote village Koth are now getting Narmada water supply under Sujlam Suflam Yojna.

Dholka MLA and minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama dedicated Rs 11 crore water scheme which includes 3 lakh liter water tank and 10 lakh liter water sump, set up.

Narmada water supply kicked off on Saturday itself in Koth village. Koth has population of 11,000 people. Each person should be supplied 70 liter water. Thus the total need is 7.70 lakh liter. Taking next 30 years in consideration, Water supplly board built 3 lakh liter water tank and 10 lakh liter sump under Sujlam Suflam group water supply scheme package-2. A 20 meter tall tank has been built near Bhayla village with a new sub-headworks. 250 mm diameter 6000 meter pipe, 225 meter diameter-5000 meter and 180 mm diameter-5000 meter PVC pipeline is now supplying clean water of Narmada to Koth.

129 villages and 3 towns of Bavla, Dholka and Sanand talukas get Narmada water under Sujlam Suflam scheme package A-2. Koth was the last village covered in this scheme. The people of Koth were complaining about low pressure and insufficient Narmada water supply. The government checked and found that the water was supplied from Bavla headworks, and major villages like Bhayla, Gangad and Kalyangadh were supplied water on route, therefore the last village Koth was getting insufficient and low pressure supply. Koth was therefore dependent on bore-well water. Two bore-well at Begva and Gangad were supplying water to Koth. However, due to higher proportion of TDS in underground water, there was a health concern here. Now when Narmada water is supplied to Koth, the problems are over.

The village witnessed starting of Narmada water supply yesterday.
