Old Sachivayala complex to function entirely on solar power

If everything goes as per the plan, Gandhinagar based govt offices campus Jivraj Mehta Bhavan, which is also known as old sachivalay will start functioning entirely on solar power from 1st June.
The campus where majority of Gujarat govt board, corporation and other offices are located will not only able to satisfy its own power needs, but will also be capable to supply surplus power to power company and earn money.
According to sources, Azure power company has installed solar panels over old sachivalaya buildings. Some panels generating 700 KW power are already activated on trial basis. The entire complex needs 1 MW power, against which 1300 KW power will be generated through solar panels.
Under the solar city project, old sachivalaya, Lokayukta bhavan office, sector 20 higher secondary school, sector 15 commerce college will also have solar power generating systems in future.
