Pre-monsoon showers across Gujarat including Amdavad, Modi tweets a prediction

Parts of Gujarat including the city of Ahmedabad were blessed with pre-monsoon showers today.
Parts of Rajkot, Junagadh, Surendranagar and Jamnagar districts witnessed moderate showers throughout the day. In north Gujarat, almost all parts of Sabarkantha district including Poshina, Bayad and Khedbrahma witnessed showers with strong winds. According to reports, one person died in Poshina in rain related accident.
Late in the evening at around 10.00 pm, the city of Ahmedabad had moderate shower with lightening in the sky and strong winds. A round of shower continued till 10.30 or so.
Two persons were injured near Jagannath Mandir in Jamalpur area due to tree felling. One more person was injured due to same reason in Vastrapur area.
Some vehicles were trapped under collapsed trees in different areas including Law garden. There were incidents of minor fire caused by short circuit. Complains of water logging were received by authority in some low lying areas.
According to Fire officer Shri Rajesh Bhatt, a large hoarding collapsed on S.G.Highway which resulted into a traffic jam. Bhatt said that the arrival of shower was sudden, and several incidents including collapse of an old house in Kalupur area’s Doshiwada ni pol are registered, however there’s no damage to life in any of the incidents.
On Twitter, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi welcomed pre-monsoon showers. He twitted: We welcome pre-monsoon showers in parts of Gujarat! Such showers during Rohini nakshatra is indeed an auspicious sign of good monsoon ahead.
