Excellent rains in drought-hit Junagadh,Porbandar,Jamnagar,Rajkot districts

It’s really very happy time for Gujarat, as the monsoon has begun on right note. There has been excellent rain in drought-hit Junagadh, Jamnagar, Porbandar and parts of Rajkot district.
The top gainer was Manvadar belt of Junagadh district where local Sherdi dam is now overflowing. At least four villages in downstream area are alerted following possibility of flood. One farmer was rescued by district administration through special intervention.
Kutiana received 13 inch, Porbandar and Ranavav 8 inch, Barda hill area 10 inch shower. Various parts of Rajkot district received rains in range of 5-9 inch.
Several dams and water bodies including Dhrofad dam and Lakhota lake received new water.
There are reports of moderate showers in Surat, Bardoli, Lakhpat, Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat.
-Schools and colleges remained closed in Jamnagar due to heay rain.There has been extra inflow of water in Lakhota lake.
-Due to heavy rain throughout the night in Kutiyana, the road connecting Sarada an Pajod suffered damage. This completely disconnected Kutiyana and Junagadh. Saran dam in this belt is overflowing.
-Anandsar dam is overflowing now.
