Resident doctors strike is partially over
March 03, 2012
Update:
The strike is partially over at around 5.00 pm today ( 5 March, 2012) within the deadline warned by the state govt. Civil hospital Superintendent Shri Prabhakar told DeshGujarat that over 50% doctors have rejoined the duty. Among those who have joined the duty are all third year students, and first, second and third year students of super specialty. All those have joined the duty at 5.00 pm and have given in writing that they are withdrawing the strike. Those more than 200 students who are still continuing with the strike will be asked first to vacate the hostel. Later they will be suspended, and even then if they don’t succumb, their registration will be canceled through university according to Civil hospital Superintendent. The government had announced strict action if strike not withdrawn by 5.00 pm on Monday. The govt had deployed extra police and had asked the doctors to vacate the hostel if they don’t rejoin the duty by 5.00 pm. The govt had also announced that the doctors would not be allowed to sit in exam in April if they don’t rejoin duty.

Here is the photo of the most hated bunch of people on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Gujarat. These are the Junior doctors who are blackmailing the government by allowing poor patients to die. Has strike become a syllabus in Indian medical course? Why resident doctors go on strike almost once every year? Government hospitals are the hospitals for poor people. Doctors study in government medical college paying comparatively very lower fees.
Ahmedabad, 3 March 2012
Resident doctors of govt hospitals are again on strike. This time in three government hospitals. The strike originated from Ahmedabad Civil hospital early in the morning today and spreaded to government hospitals in Bhavnagar and Vadodara.
Medical students of Civil hospital Ahmedabad alleged that yesterday night one doctor was beaten by a group of relatives of a patient. The attack on doctor took place after the doctors removed ventilator support and a patient died.
To protest this, the doctors say they have declared strike in Ahmedabad Civil hospital. Doctors of government hospitals in Vadodara and Bhavangar also extended their support and joined the strike.
The doctors say they want a bill protecting them on duty, and more security in the hospital.
6 suspended
The government has suspended six doctors and their post graduate course registration has been canceled. The government has done this in past also when junior doctors were on strike, but at the end of the strike the government revoked suspensions. Hopefully this time, govt will stay firm. After all, once and for all, there needs to be a permanent solution of junior doctors going on strike. If Modi govt can not be tough, which govt can be tough with these doctors who let poor patients suffer for their whimsical demands.
